Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Remove

Remove Red Hat pump DHCP client from your environment.

Uninstall the Red Hat pump DHCP client package from affected systems if the client is not required.

  2. Configuration

Disable the pump DHCP client service on affected Red Hat systems to prevent use of the vulnerable client until a vendor fix is available.

Red Hat pump DHCP client service_enabled = false
  3. Compensating control

Restrict DHCP traffic to trusted DHCP servers and block or filter DHCP responses from untrusted networks at the network boundary or firewall to reduce exposure to remote attackers.

  4. Operational

Assume potential compromise where the vulnerable client was running: audit systems for signs of root compromise, rotate any credentials or keys that may have been exposed, and rebuild or restore affected systems from known-good backups if compromise is confirmed.
