No authentication or user interaction is required. An attacker needs network access to the endpoint and can submit a UNION SELECT SQL injection payload through the CityId parameter.

3

What could an attacker obtain?

The described exploitation method can extract database information by manipulating the MSSQL query used by the sys_City lookup. The reported impact includes high confidentiality impact and low integrity impact.

4

How can I check for attempted exploitation?

Review web-server and application logs for GET requests to /user/City_ajax.aspx with suspicious CityId values, especially values containing UNION SELECT payloads. Exploitation evidence was observed in the wild on 2023-10-14.
