CVE-2020-5318: High severity Dell EMC Isilon OneFS vulnerability

Dell EMC Isilon OneFS versions 8.1.2, 8.1.0.4, 8.1.0.3, and 8.0.0.7 contain a vulnerability in some configurations. An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to gain access to restricted files. The non-RAN HTTP and WebDAV file-serving components have a vulnerability wherein when either are enabled, and Basic Authentication is enabled for either or both components, files are accessible without authentication.

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Configuration

    For OneFS versions 8.1.2, 8.1.0.4, 8.1.0.3, and 8.0.0.7: if the non-RAN HTTP file-serving component is enabled, disable Basic Authentication for the component to prevent restricted files from being served without authentication.

    Dell EMC Isilon OneFS (non-RAN HTTP file-serving component) Basic Authentication = Disable (Basic Authentication must not be enabled when HTTP non-RAN file-serving is enabled)
  2. Configuration

    For OneFS versions 8.1.2, 8.1.0.4, 8.1.0.3, and 8.0.0.7: if the non-RAN WebDAV file-serving component is enabled, disable Basic Authentication for the component to prevent restricted files from being served without authentication.
