CVE-2024-4734: Import and export users and customers <= 1.26.6.1 - Authenticated (Administrator+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting

Published May 15, 2024
·
Updated

The Import and export users and customers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings in all versions up to, and including, 1.26.6.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level permissions and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfilteredhtml has been disabled.

WebToffee Import Export WordPress Users<=1.26.6.1

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Upgrade

    Upgrade wordpress/plugin/import-and-export-users-and-customers to a version that resolves this vulnerability.

    Fixed in 1.26.6.1
  2. Compensating control

    If applicable to your environment, mitigate exposure by restricting authenticated Administrator+ access to the plugin’s admin import/export settings on WordPress multisite installations (this issue affects multisite and non-multisite where unfiltered_html has been disabled).
