CVE-2025-7643: Attachment Manager <= 2.1.2 - Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Deletion

Published Jul 18, 2025
·
Updated

The Attachment Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the handleactions() function in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.2. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).

Affected Software

1 affected component
WordPress Attachment Manager<=2.1.2

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Upgrade

    Upgrade WordPress Attachment Manager plugin to a version that resolves this vulnerability.

    Fixed in 2.1.2
  2. Compensating control

    Mitigate unauthenticated arbitrary file deletion by restricting access to the WordPress endpoints that trigger Attachment Manager actions (e.g., block unauthenticated requests to the relevant Attachment Manager AJAX/handler routes at the web server/WAF/ACL) until the plugin is upgraded.
