CVE-2026-100153: NewStatPress <= 1.4.5 - Unauthenticated Stored Cross-Site Scripting via URL Request Tracking (urlrequested field)

Published Oct 14, 2026
·
Updated

The NewStatPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'QUERYSTRING / REQUESTURI' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.5 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that an administrator has placed the [NewStatPress type="Top Pages"] shortcode on a publicly viewable page, and that the attacker's crafted URL accumulates enough hits to appear in the top-N ranking.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which sites are exposed to exploitation?

Sites using NewStatPress version 1.4.5 or earlier are exposed if an administrator has placed the [NewStatPress type="Top Pages"] shortcode on a publicly viewable page. The malicious URL must also receive enough hits to enter that page's top-N ranking.

2

Does an attacker need an account or user interaction to inject the payload?

No. An unauthenticated attacker can submit a crafted URL request; no account or prior privileges are required. The stored script executes later when a user accesses the page that displays the injected entry.

3

What condition makes the stored payload visible and executable?

The plugin records the crafted QUERY_STRING or REQUEST_URI value, and the value must accumulate sufficient hits to appear in the Top Pages ranking. A user must then access the publicly viewable page containing the relevant NewStatPress shortcode.
