CVE-2026-101882: OpenClaw Windows Node before 2026.7.1 Remote Code Execution via system.execApprovals.set
OpenClaw Windows Node before 2026.7.1 contains an incomplete validation vulnerability in system.execApprovals.set that accepts wildcard-executable rules and abusable system binaries like mshta, rundll32, and certutil. Remote callers can add broad allow rules to execute arbitrary commands on the Windows host through system.run without operator checks or user prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are exposed?
OpenClaw Windows Node versions before 2026.7.1 are affected. The issue applies to Windows hosts running the vulnerable node.
What level of access does an attacker need?
An attacker needs remote access as a caller with low privileges. No user interaction is required.
How does exploitation lead to code execution?
A remote caller can use system.execApprovals.set to add overly broad executable allow rules, including wildcard rules or rules involving mshta, rundll32, or certutil. The caller can then execute arbitrary commands through system.run without operator checks or user prompts.
What should be prioritized for remediation?
Upgrade affected OpenClaw Windows Node installations to 2026.7.1 or later. Until patching is complete, treat remote callers able to invoke system.execApprovals.set or system.run as capable of executing commands on the Windows host.
