CVE-2026-101924: NewStatPress <= 1.4.5 - Unauthenticated Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'urlrequested' Attribute via Query String
The NewStatPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including, 1.4.5 via the 'Last referrers' meta box on the plugin's Overview admin page. This is due to insufficient output escaping of the visitor-supplied query string that the plugin records in its statistics table: the newstatpressgenerateoverviewlastreferrers() function concatenates the stored urlrequested value into a single-quoted href attribute after only FILTERSANITIZEURL, which does not encode the apostrophe. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a high-privileged user, such as an administrator, accesses the Overview page and hovers the injected link.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can trigger the vulnerable behavior, and who is at risk of script execution?
An unauthenticated attacker can submit a crafted query string that NewStatPress records. The injected script executes when a high-privileged user, such as an administrator, opens the plugin's Overview page and hovers over the malicious entry in the Last referrers meta box.
What user interaction is required for exploitation?
The attacker does not need authentication or prior interaction. A privileged user must visit the NewStatPress Overview page and hover the injected link for the stored script to execute.
Which versions are affected?
NewStatPress versions up to and including 1.4.5 are affected.
