CVE-2026-101925: bbp style pack <= 6.4.8 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Author Display Name
The bbp style pack plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'displayname (via /wp-admin/profile.php) + bbpreplycontent (via bbPress reply form)' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 6.4.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Successful exploitation requires the attacker to wrap their crafted reply in a <pre> block, which prevents WordPress's wpautop/wptexturize processors from converting straight double quotes in the stored display name into typographic curly-quote entities that would otherwise neutralize the attribute-injection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
An attacker must be authenticated to the WordPress site and have at least Subscriber-level access. They also need to be able to change their display name through /wp-admin/profile.php and submit a bbPress reply.
What is required for the injected script to execute?
The attacker must place the crafted reply content inside a <pre> block. This prevents WordPress text processing from converting straight double quotes in the stored display name into curly quotes that would otherwise neutralize the attribute injection.
Who is exposed to the stored payload?
The injected script executes when a user accesses the page containing the malicious bbPress reply. The issue can therefore affect other users who view the attacker-controlled reply.
Which versions are affected?
The provided information identifies bbp Style Pack versions up to and including 6.4.8 as affected.
