CVE-2026-101942: Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: An attacker causes rpd denial of service when EVPN route signaling is used

Published Oct 14, 2026
·
Updated

An Improper Handling of Length Parameter Inconsistency vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) process of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker to cause a denial of service via a malformed EVPN Type-3 or Type-4 route received from a configured EVPN peer and processed during re-advertisement.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are exposed to this issue?

Deployments of Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved that use EVPN route signaling and have a configured EVPN peer are exposed, because the malformed route must be received from that peer and processed for re-advertisement.

2

What does an attacker need to do to trigger the denial of service?

An unauthenticated network-based attacker needs to send a malformed EVPN Type-3 or Type-4 route through a configured EVPN peer. The vulnerable rpd process is affected while processing the route during re-advertisement.

3

What is the operational impact of successful exploitation?

Successful exploitation causes a denial of service affecting the routing protocol daemon (rpd). The provided data does not describe impacts beyond rpd denial of service.
