Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are exposed to this denial of service?

Exposure requires VPN-flowspec BGP updates to be readvertised and BMP post-policy RIB-out monitoring to be configured. The issue affects the rpd daemon in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved under that scenario.

2

What access does an attacker need?

An attacker must be an unauthenticated remote BGP neighbor capable of sending the triggering VPN-flowspec BGP update. No authenticated account or user interaction is required.

3

What is the operational impact of successful exploitation?

A crafted BGP update can crash rpd, causing a denial of service. The provided information does not indicate confidentiality or integrity impact.
