Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker must be adjacent to the affected device and able to send a crafted LDP packet over an established LDP session. The provided data does not indicate that remote unauthenticated attackers without LDP adjacency can exploit it.

2

What is the impact of successful exploitation?

Successful exploitation can crash the routing protocol daemon (rpd), causing a denial-of-service condition. No confidentiality or integrity impact is identified in the supplied severity vector.

3

Are devices affected by default?

The issue requires an established LDP session, so exposure depends on whether the device is operating LDP with an adjacent peer. The provided data does not state whether LDP is enabled by default.
