CVE-2026-101971: Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: An attacker causes routing protocol daemon crash when OSPFv3 is enabled
An Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in rpd, the routing protocol daemon, of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved platforms allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a denial of service and heap memory corruption via OSPFv3 messages on an enabled broadcast interface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are exposed to this issue?
Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved deployments are exposed when OSPFv3 is enabled on a broadcast interface. The attacker must be adjacent to that interface's network segment.
Does exploitation require authentication or user interaction?
No. An unauthenticated adjacent attacker can exploit the issue by sending OSPFv3 messages; no user interaction is required.
What is the operational impact of a successful attack?
Successful exploitation can crash the routing protocol daemon (rpd), causing a denial of service. The issue can also result in heap memory corruption.
