Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are exposed?

Deployments running Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved with a configured BGP peer are relevant. Exploitation depends on the peer being able to send a flow-spec update that is selected for re-advertisement.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit this issue?

The attacker must be a remote configured BGP peer and send a flow-spec update that is selected for re-advertisement. No user interaction is required.

3

What is the impact on Junos OS compared with Junos OS Evolved?

A successful attack can crash the routing protocol daemon (rpd) on both platforms. On Junos OS, the vulnerability can also allow remote code execution.
