Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this vulnerability?

Devices running Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved are exposed when they use 802.1X authentication on an interface. The attacker must be on an adjacent network segment able to send EAPOL frames to that interface.

2

Does exploitation require credentials or user interaction?

No. The reported attack vector is adjacent network access, with no privileges or user interaction required.

3

What could an attacker achieve?

An attacker can execute code with root privileges or cause a denial of service by sending a crafted EAPOL frame to an 802.1X-authenticated interface.
