CVE-2026-102050: Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: An adjacent attacker causes Layer 2 control-plane denial of service when LLDP is enabled

Published Oct 14, 2026
·
Updated

A Stack-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in the l2cpd daemon of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to cause a denial of service in Layer 2 control-plane processing via LLDP packets received on an interface configured for LLDP. Repeated triggering may disrupt LLDP and other Layer 2 control protocols across the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which devices or interfaces are exposed to this issue?

Systems running Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved are exposed where an interface is configured for LLDP. The attacker must be adjacent to the affected interface, meaning they need Layer 2 network reachability to send LLDP packets to it.

2

Does exploitation require credentials or user interaction?

No. The vulnerability can be triggered by an unauthenticated adjacent attacker, and no user interaction is required.

3

What is the likely operational impact of repeated exploitation?

Repeated triggering can disrupt LLDP and other Layer 2 control protocols across the device. This results in denial of service affecting Layer 2 control-plane processing.
