Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which systems are exposed to this issue?

Systems running Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved are exposed when Ethernet CFM is enabled and configured on an interface reachable by an adjacent-network attacker.

2

What access does an attacker need to exploit it?

The attacker does not need authentication or user interaction, but must be on an adjacent network and able to send a specific CFM message to a configured interface.

3

What is the practical impact of successful exploitation?

Successful exploitation can crash the cfmd daemon, causing denial of service, and can disclose limited memory from the affected process.
