Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are exposed?

Only Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved platforms that support Secure-ZTP are affected. Exploitation requires the device to use SZTP DHCP provisioning.

2

What access does an attacker need?

The attacker must be adjacent to the target network and does not need authentication or user interaction. They exploit the issue by sending a crafted DHCP SZTP bootstrap message.

3

What is the potential impact of successful exploitation?

A successful attacker can execute arbitrary code as root on the affected device. This can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
