CVE-2026-102179: Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: An attacker causes a routing daemon crash when BGP EVPN RIB telemetry is used
An Out-of-bounds Write vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an attacker with access to a configured BGP EVPN peer to cause a denial of service via BGP EVPN route processing when the l2vpn-evpn RIB telemetry sensor is subscribed. Successful exploitation can crash rpd and interrupt routing protocols until the daemon restarts and reconverges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
An attacker needs access to a configured BGP EVPN peer. The issue is therefore relevant to devices that peer with an attacker-controlled or untrusted BGP EVPN neighbor.
Is a device affected if it uses BGP EVPN but does not use telemetry?
The described attack path requires the l2vpn-evpn RIB telemetry sensor to be subscribed. The provided information does not indicate that BGP EVPN alone is sufficient.
What is the operational impact of successful exploitation?
Successful exploitation can crash the routing protocol daemon (rpd), interrupting routing protocols until rpd restarts and routing reconverges.
What can be done if patching cannot happen immediately?
Where operationally feasible, remove or avoid subscription to the l2vpn-evpn RIB telemetry sensor and restrict BGP EVPN peering to trusted, controlled peers.
