CVE-2026-103905: Unauthenticated Plugin Safe Mode Toggle Vulnerability in JTL-Shop

Published Oct 14, 2026
·
Updated

The authentication middleware of the JTL-Shop administration backend processes the plugin safe mode toggle on the admin logout route before checking whether the requesting user is authenticated. An unauthenticated remote attacker can therefore switch the shop's plugin safe mode on and off, which deactivates all installed plugins and their functionality, such as payment and shipping integrations, resulting in a shop-wide denial of service. The attack requires a single request and can be automated against many installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this issue?

Any reachable JTL-Shop administration backend is exposed because the safe mode toggle can be processed before authentication. No attacker account or user interaction is required.

2

What is the operational impact of exploitation?

An attacker can enable or disable plugin safe mode with a single remote request. Enabling safe mode deactivates all installed plugins, including functions such as payment and shipping integrations, causing shop-wide service disruption.

3

How difficult is this to exploit at scale?

The attack requires only one request and can be automated against many installations. This makes publicly reachable deployments particularly susceptible to repeated disruption.
