Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which Ghost installations are affected?

Ghost versions from 6.10.3 up to, but not including, 6.64.0 are affected. The issue is fixed in Ghost 6.64.0.

2

What access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?

An attacker must already be authenticated as a Ghost Administrator and be able to supply a crafted theme. Exploitation does not require user interaction and can result in arbitrary code execution on the server.

3

What should teams do if they cannot immediately upgrade?

Limit and review Ghost Administrator access, especially accounts able to upload or manage themes. Do not install untrusted themes, because the vulnerable behavior is triggered through crafted theme translation files.
