Frequently Asked Questions

1

Can this be exploited without valid credentials?

The file-upload issue requires a user to upload a report, but it can be chained with the separate authentication-bypass vulnerability described in the advisory to achieve unauthenticated code execution.

2

What does an attacker need to upload to execute code?

An attacker can supply arbitrary file contents and specify the file extension. Uploading JSP code with a JSPX extension and then browsing to the uploaded file can result in command execution on the server.

3

Is command execution limited to the application context?

The available information states that the chained issue can run code on the server. It does not specify the operating-system account, privileges, or containment of that code execution.
