CVE-2026-107701: dot-access through 1.0.0 Prototype Pollution via set() path argument

Published Oct 8, 2026
·
Updated

dot-access through 1.0.0 contains a prototype pollution vulnerability that allows attackers to modify Object.prototype by supplying a crafted dotted path to set(). Attackers controlling the path, such as through user-supplied field names, can use proto segments to inject properties into all objects, altering authorization flags and option defaults or crashing the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What application patterns are exposed to this issue?

Applications are exposed when they use dot-access set() with a path derived from attacker-controlled input, such as user-supplied field names. A crafted path containing __proto__ segments can modify Object.prototype.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit it?

The attacker needs to control the dotted path passed to set(). No authentication, user interaction, or special access is required according to the supplied vector.

3

What could exploitation change in an application?

Prototype pollution can inject properties into all objects. This may alter authorization flags or option defaults, and may also crash the process.
