CVE-2026-108387: radare2: Remote code execution when loading Pebble/SMD binary

Published Nov 4, 2026
·
Updated

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.2, attacker-controlled data from several binary format plugins could reach RBinInfo->bclass. Opening or analyzing a crafted Pebble or Sega Mega Drive binary could place a dbg:// URI in bclass, causing radare2 to reopen the input through the debug input/output plugin and ultimately pass attacker-controlled arguments to execvp(). This could execute commands with the privileges of the radare2 process without an explicit debugging command. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.2.

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Upgrade

Upgrade radare2 to a version that resolves this vulnerability.

    Fixed in 6.2.2

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this issue?

Users of radare2 versions before 6.2.2 are exposed when they open or analyze an attacker-controlled Pebble or Sega Mega Drive binary. The resulting command execution runs with the privileges of the radare2 process.

2

What must an attacker do to trigger command execution?

An attacker must persuade a user to load or analyze a crafted Pebble or Sega Mega Drive binary. The crafted file can set bclass to a dbg:// URI, leading radare2 to invoke execvp() with attacker-controlled arguments without the user issuing an explicit debugging command.

3

What should be done to remediate the issue?

Upgrade radare2 to version 6.2.2, which fixes the issue. Until upgrading is possible, do not open or analyze untrusted Pebble or Sega Mega Drive binaries with affected versions.
