Frequently Asked Questions

1

What level of access does an attacker need?

The severity vector indicates high privileges are required. Exploitation is remote but is rated high complexity and described as difficult.

2

Can these configuration values be changed through the normal administration interface?

No. The vendor states that set_function and use_function are not editable through the normal admin UI; they can only be changed at plugin-install time through SQL or through direct database access.

3

What should be reviewed while remediation is pending?

Review plugin-install SQL and access to the database, since these are the only vendor-identified paths for changing set_function or use_function. Restricting and auditing those paths is particularly relevant.

4

Is exploit code available?

Yes. A public exploit is reported as available, although exploitation is considered difficult and requires high privileges.
