CVE-2026-109560: Continue CLI through 1.5.47 Bash Permission Rule Bypass via Command Chaining

Published Oct 12, 2026
·
Updated

Continue CLI (@continuedev/cli) through 1.5.47 contains a permission bypass vulnerability that allows attackers to run unapproved commands by chaining them after allowed Bash prefix rules. Attackers can inject instructions into repository files or fetched pages so the agent appends commands after ;, && or | to execute code as the user.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What conditions are required for exploitation?

An attacker must be able to place instructions in repository files or in pages fetched by the agent, and must induce the agent to append a command after an allowed Bash command prefix. The exploit relies on shell command chaining using ;, &&, or | and requires user interaction.

2

Are deployments with Bash permission prefix rules affected?

Yes. The issue is specifically a bypass of Bash permission rules that allow commands based on approved prefixes, allowing unapproved commands to be chained after an allowed prefix.

3

What is the practical impact if exploitation succeeds?

The chained command can execute code as the user running Continue CLI. The stated impact includes compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
