CVE-2026-109966: yt-dlp-web-ui through 4.0.0 Argument Injection via Service.Formats JSON-RPC Method
yt-dlp-web-ui through 4.0.0 contains an argument injection vulnerability that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to inject yt-dlp options by supplying a dash-prefixed url parameter to the Service.Formats JSON-RPC method. Attackers can send values like --load-info-json via /rpc/http or /rpc/ws to make yt-dlp load attacker-chosen JSON files from the server filesystem, with contents reflected in responses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are exposed?
Deployments of yt-dlp-web-ui through version 4.0.0 are exposed if attackers can reach the /rpc/http or /rpc/ws JSON-RPC endpoints.
Does exploitation require an account or user interaction?
No. An unauthenticated remote attacker can invoke the Service.Formats method with a dash-prefixed url parameter; no user interaction is required.
What information can an attacker obtain?
An attacker can inject yt-dlp options such as --load-info-json to load attacker-chosen JSON files from the server filesystem. The loaded file contents can be reflected in the RPC response.
