CVE-2026-110841: n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.0 Authorization Bypass in Agent Chat Resume Tool Approval
n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.0 contains an authorization bypass in the agent chat resume endpoint, which accepts a run identifier from the request body without verifying that the suspended checkpoint belongs to the caller. Authenticated project members can list and read other members' private agent conversations through project-scoped endpoints, then approve their pending tool calls, causing the tools to execute and write results into the victim's conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
An authenticated project member can exploit it. The issue is relevant where project members can access project-scoped endpoints that let them list and read other members' private agent conversations.
What does an attacker need to do to trigger the unauthorized action?
The attacker needs a run identifier for another member's suspended agent-chat checkpoint. They can submit that identifier to the resume endpoint and approve a pending tool call without the checkpoint ownership being verified.
What is the impact after a pending tool call is approved?
The victim's pending tool can execute, and its results are written into the victim's conversation. The attacker can also read other members' private agent conversations through the affected project-scoped endpoints.
Which versions are affected?
Versions before 2.41.4 and 2.42.0 are affected.
