CVE-2026-111148: libsidplayfp through 3.1.1 Heap Out-of-Bounds Read via SidTuneBase::acceptSidTune
libsidplayfp through 3.1.1 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability that allows attackers to crash applications by supplying a PSID/RSID file with an unchecked data offset. Attackers can set the header data offset beyond the file size, wrapping the length calculation so resolveAddrs() reads up to 64 KiB past the heap buffer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which applications are exposed to this issue?
Applications using libsidplayfp through version 3.1.1 to process attacker-supplied PSID or RSID files are exposed. The stated impact is an application crash caused by an out-of-bounds heap read.
What does an attacker need to exploit it?
An attacker needs to supply a crafted PSID or RSID file whose header data offset is beyond the file size. Exploitation requires user interaction, consistent with the supplied CVSS vector.
What should be done if patching is not immediately possible?
Do not process untrusted PSID or RSID files with affected libsidplayfp versions. In particular, reject files with a header data offset larger than the available file data before passing them to the library.
