CVE-2026-112052: libspatialite through 5.1.0 Integer Overflow in WKB Geometry Parsing

Published Oct 18, 2026
·
Updated

libspatialite through 5.1.0 contains an integer overflow vulnerability in the WKB point and vertex count size guard of ParseWkbLine and related parsers in ggwkb.c, allowing out-of-bounds reads. Attackers can supply a crafted geometry BLOB with a large point count, for example in a SpatiaLite database file, to crash the process or corrupt heap memory on 32-bit builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which environments face the greatest impact?

The described crash and heap-memory corruption impact is specifically associated with 32-bit builds. Deployments that parse geometry BLOBs from untrusted SpatiaLite database files are a relevant exposure scenario.

2

Does an attacker need authentication or elevated privileges?

No privileges are required according to the provided vector. Exploitation does require user interaction.

3

What attacker-controlled input is involved?

An attacker can use a crafted geometry BLOB containing a large point count. A SpatiaLite database file is given as an example delivery container for that BLOB.
