CVE-2026-114723: Low severity Roundcube Roundcube Webmail vulnerability
Roundcube Webmail before 1.6.20 and 1.7.x before 1.7.5 allows the ImageMagick resource limits to be bypassed during thumbnail generation. When rcubeimage falls back to GD, the available-memory check was applied only on Windows, so on other platforms a crafted image with large dimensions was processed by GD without any resource limit and could exhaust server memory. Upstream fixed this in the commit “Fix ImageMagick resource limits bypass by GD fallback during thumbnail generation”, which applies the memory check on all platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are exposed to this issue?
Roundcube Webmail versions before 1.6.20 and 1.7.x before 1.7.5 are affected when thumbnail generation falls back from rcube_image/ImageMagick to GD on a non-Windows platform.
What does an attacker need to do to trigger the resource exhaustion?
An attacker needs to provide a crafted image with very large dimensions that is processed during thumbnail generation. No privileges or user interaction are required, but exploitation has high attack complexity.
What is the impact if exploitation succeeds?
GD can process the image without a resource limit, potentially exhausting server memory. The reported impact is limited to availability; no confidentiality or integrity impact is specified.
What should be done if patching cannot happen immediately?
The provided data does not specify a workaround. Prioritize updating to Roundcube 1.6.20 or 1.7.5, which apply the available-memory check on all platforms.
