CVE-2026-115403: NULL pointer dereference in the BSD raw IPv6 send path when the destination table is full

Published Nov 2, 2026
·
Updated

In Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo versions 6.0 through 6.5.2.202603a, built with BSD raw socket and IPv6 support, the IPv6 raw send path uses the destination-table entry it adds without checking that the add succeeded. When the destination table is full and an off-link destination is reached through a default router whose neighbour cache entry is unknown, sending on an IPv6 raw socket with header inclusion dereferences a NULL pointer; a remote sender can fill the table, for example with ICMPv6 Packet Too Big messages, and crash the sending thread.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are affected?

Affected deployments use Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo versions 6.0 through 6.5.2.202603a and are built with both BSD raw socket and IPv6 support. The vulnerable operation is sending through an IPv6 raw socket with header inclusion.

2

What conditions are required to trigger the crash?

The destination table must be full, the destination must be off-link and reached through a default router, and that router's neighbour-cache entry must be unknown. Under those conditions, the failed destination-table addition is used without a success check, causing a NULL pointer dereference.

3

Can this be triggered remotely without credentials or user interaction?

The provided severity vector indicates network access, low attack complexity, no privileges, and no user interaction. A remote sender can fill the destination table, for example using ICMPv6 Packet Too Big messages, then cause the sending thread to crash when it performs the affected raw IPv6 send.
