REDAXO before 5.21.5 contains an insufficient session expiration vulnerability that allows attackers to retain account access by keeping the current session and stay-logged-in key valid after a password change. Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker must already have obtained a user's session ID or stay-logged-in cookie. The issue affects backend access associated with that compromised authentication material.

2

Does changing the affected user's password remove an attacker's access?

No. In affected versions, the current session and stay-logged-in key remain valid after a password change, allowing the attacker to retain backend access. A stay-logged-in cookie can remain usable for up to three months.

3

Which versions are affected?

REDAXO versions before 5.21.5 are affected.
