CVE-2026-117069: High severity vulnerability
An integer truncation vulnerability in the NAS decoder of OpenAirInterface (OAI) CN5G AMF v2.2.1 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) via crafted NAS Registration Requests containing a malformed IMEISV in the 5GS Mobile Identity IE. The Type6NasIe::Validate() function truncates a 32-bit length value to 16 bits, bypassing length validation and causing an out-of-bounds heap read in DecodeImeisv(), which can crash the AMF process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Deployments running OpenAirInterface CN5G AMF v2.2.1 are exposed if the AMF can receive NAS Registration Requests from a remote attacker.
Does exploitation require authentication or user interaction?
No. The supplied CVSS vector indicates network reachability, low attack complexity, no privileges required, and no user interaction.
What does an attacker need to send to trigger the denial of service?
The attacker needs to send crafted NAS Registration Requests containing a malformed IMEISV in the 5GS Mobile Identity information element. The malformed length can bypass validation and lead to an out-of-bounds heap read that crashes the AMF process.
Is public exploit information available?
Yes. The vulnerability is flagged as having a proof of concept, and an exploit was published on 2026-11-03.
