CVE-2026-118611: Alpine iLX-F511 Bluetooth OBEX Packet Handling Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Alpine iLX-F511 Bluetooth OBEX Packet Handling Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows physically present attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Alpine iLX-F511 devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the handling of Bluetooth OBEX packets. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-29012.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can realistically exploit this issue?
An attacker must be physically present and able to send crafted Bluetooth OBEX packets to an affected Alpine iLX-F511 device. No authentication is required.
What level of access could successful exploitation provide?
Successful exploitation can allow arbitrary code execution in the context of root, which gives the attacker full privileges on the affected device.
What component is involved in the vulnerable processing?
The flaw is in Bluetooth OBEX packet handling. Crafted packet data can trigger a heap-based buffer overflow because user-supplied length values are not properly validated before data is copied into a heap buffer.
