CVE-2026-120575: Photo Engine (Media Organizer & Lightroom) <= 6.5.7 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Collection Name
The Photo Engine (Media Organizer & Lightroom) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'hierarchy[].name' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 6.5.7 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This is exploitable by Subscribers because the /?wplr-sync-api endpoint authenticates solely via wplrauthtoken usermeta with no capability check, and the current user's token is exposed on every admin page via localized script data due to a commented-out screen-condition guard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
An authenticated WordPress user with Subscriber-level access or higher can exploit it. The affected synchronization endpoint checks for a wplr_auth_token but does not enforce a WordPress capability check.
What does an attacker need to submit?
The attacker needs to send a crafted collection name through the hierarchy[].name parameter to the /?wplr-sync-api endpoint. They can obtain the current user's authentication token because it is exposed in localized script data on every admin page.
Are default WordPress roles affected?
Yes. Subscribers are affected because they can authenticate to the endpoint despite lacking higher administrative capabilities.
What happens after successful exploitation?
The malicious collection name is stored and arbitrary web script executes when a user accesses a page containing the injected content. The impact includes potential compromise of confidentiality and integrity in the affected user's browser session.
Which plugin versions are affected?
All Photo Engine (Media Organizer & Lightroom) versions through 6.5.7, including 6.5.7, are affected.
