CVE-2026-121925: Buffer overflow in SAML authentication post-back URL handling in libsnowflakeclient and Snowflake PHP PDO Driver

Published Nov 4, 2026
·
Updated

A stack-based buffer overflow in libsnowflakeclient and the Snowflake PHP PDO Driver could, under specific conditions, result in memory corruption during SAML-based authentication. During a native SSO/SAML login flow, the affected drivers may have copied a value taken from the identity provider's HTML response into a fixed-size memory buffer without first validating the length of that value. An attacker who controlled or had compromised the configured identity provider — or who was able to redirect the SAML single sign-on endpoint to an attacker-controlled server — might have leveraged this by returning an oversized response, potentially resulting in a crash or, in specific circumstances, remote code execution within the context of the application running the library. The fix is available in libsnowflakeclient version 2.11.1 and Snowflake PHP PDO Driver version 4.3.0. Users must manually upgrade.

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this issue?

Applications using libsnowflakeclient or the Snowflake PHP PDO Driver for native SSO/SAML authentication are exposed when their configured identity provider is compromised or when the SAML SSO endpoint can be redirected to an attacker-controlled server.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit the vulnerability?

The attacker needs control of the configured identity provider, or the ability to redirect the SAML single sign-on endpoint to a server they control. They must return an oversized value in the identity provider HTML response during the SAML login flow.

3

What is the impact of successful exploitation?

The oversized response can cause memory corruption and may crash the application using the affected library. In specific circumstances, it could result in remote code execution in the context of that application.

4

What versions contain the fix, and is upgrading automatic?

The fix is available in libsnowflakeclient version 2.11.1 and Snowflake PHP PDO Driver version 4.3.0. Users must manually upgrade.
