Updated

The GamiPress – Gamification plugin to reward points, achievements, badges & ranks in WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'videoid' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.9.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker must be authenticated to WordPress with at least Subscriber-level access. The vulnerable behavior affects GamiPress versions through 7.9.4.

2

What is required for the injected script to run?

The attacker must submit malicious script content through the video_id parameter and have it stored in a page. The script executes when another user accesses that injected page.

3

What is the likely impact if exploitation succeeds?

Because the script runs in a visitor's browser, it can affect the confidentiality and integrity of that user's interaction with the site. The provided severity vector indicates low confidentiality and integrity impact, with no availability impact.
