Frequently Asked Questions
Which product versions are affected?
GENESIS 11.03 and earlier, and GENESIS64, ICONICS Suite, Hyper Historian, AnalytiX, MobileHMI, and IoTWorX 10.97.3 and earlier are affected. MC Works64, GENESIS32, and BizViz are affected in all versions.
What does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
The attacker must obtain the password-recovery challenge response by some means. The issue can then be exploited remotely to unlock the system.
Does the challenge response differ by user?
No. The challenge response is fixed and common to all users, so a response obtained for one user can be used to unlock the affected system rather than being limited to that individual account.
What could an attacker do after unlocking the system?
An attacker may disclose, tamper with, destroy, or delete internal information. They may also cause a denial-of-service condition in the affected system.
