CVE-2026-23330: nfc: nci: complete pending data exchange on device close
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nfc: nci: complete pending data exchange on device close
In nciclosedevice(), complete any pending data exchange before closing. The data exchange callback (e.g. rawsockdataexchangecomplete) holds a socket reference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who would need access to exploit this issue?
The CVSS vector indicates local access with low privileges and no user interaction. The affected path involves the Linux kernel's NFC NCI functionality and raw NFC sockets.
What is the impact of triggering the flaw?
A pending data exchange is not completed when an NCI device is closed, leaving a socket reference held by its completion callback. This can cause a memory/resource leak and affects availability, with no confidentiality or integrity impact indicated.
How can I look for evidence that a system is affected?
Kernel leak diagnostics may report an unreferenced 2048-byte object allocated through socket creation paths including rawsock_create, nfc_sock_create, and sk_alloc, with the nci_dev process involved. The reported condition occurs when an NCI device is closed while a data exchange remains pending.
