CVE-2026-31492: RDMA/irdma: Initialize free_qp completion before using it
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/irdma: Initialize freeqp completion before using it
In irdmacreateqp, if ibcopytoudata fails, it will call irdmadestroyqp to clean up which will attempt to wait on the freeqp completion, which is not initialized yet. Fix this by initializing the completion before the ibcopytoudata call.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Systems running the Linux kernel with the irdma RDMA component are in scope. Exploitation requires local access and low privileges.
What must happen for the vulnerable path to be reached?
The failure occurs during queue-pair creation when ib_copy_to_udata fails. Cleanup then calls irdma_destroy_qp, which waits on a free_qp completion that has not yet been initialized.
What is the impact of successful exploitation?
The CVSS vector indicates availability impact only, with a high availability impact and no confidentiality or integrity impact. User interaction is not required.
Is a fix available?
Yes. A patch is available; the provided stable-kernel references contain the relevant fixes.
