CVE-2026-31542: x86/platform/uv: Handle deconfigured sockets
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
x86/platform/uv: Handle deconfigured sockets
When a socket is deconfigured, it's mapped to SOCKEMPTY (0xffff). This causes a panic while allocating UV hub info structures.
Fix this by using NUMANONODE, allowing UV hub info structures to be allocated on valid nodes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
The issue applies to Linux kernel systems using the x86 UV platform where a socket has been deconfigured. The failure occurs when the kernel allocates UV hub information structures for that condition.
What level of access is needed to trigger the vulnerability?
The supplied severity vector indicates local access and low privileges are required, with no user interaction required. The reported impact is availability only, as the condition can cause a kernel panic.
