CVE-2026-31762: iio: gyro: mpu3050: Fix irq resource leak

Published May 1, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

iio: gyro: mpu3050: Fix irq resource leak

The interrupt handler is setup but only a few lines down if iiotriggerregister() fails the function returns without properly releasing the handler.

Add cleanup goto to resolve resource leak.

Detected by Smatch: drivers/iio/gyro/mpu3050-core.c:1128 mpu3050triggerprobe() warn: 'irq' from requestthreadedirq() not released on lines: 1124.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which systems are exposed to this issue?

Systems using the Linux kernel's MPU3050 gyroscope IIO driver are the relevant population. The leak occurs during driver probe when the interrupt handler has been set up and iio_trigger_register() then fails.

2

What level of access is required for exploitation?

An attacker would need local access and low privileges, according to the CVSS vector. No user interaction is required, and the reported impact is limited to availability.

3

What should I do if my system is affected?

Apply an available patch. The provided data does not identify a configuration workaround or mitigation for systems that cannot be patched immediately.
