CVE-2026-41450: UAC < 3.3.0 Command Injection via command_collector.sh

Published Aug 21, 2026
·
Updated

UAC (Unix-like Artifacts Collector) versions prior to 3.3.0 contain a command injection vulnerability in the commandcollector function where foreach command output lines are substituted directly into command strings via sed without proper escaping before being evaluated with eval. Attackers can exploit this by crafting malicious filenames or artifact definitions containing shell metacharacters such as command substitution syntax or semicolons to execute arbitrary commands on the analyst's host system.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is most likely exposed to exploitation?

Analysts or responders who run a vulnerable UAC version against attacker-controlled systems or artifacts are exposed. Malicious filenames or artifact definitions can cause commands to execute on the analyst's host system.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit this issue?

The attacker needs to craft a filename or artifact definition that is processed by the vulnerable _command_collector function. Shell metacharacters, including command substitution syntax or semicolons, can be used to inject commands.

3

Is user interaction required?

Yes. The affected UAC execution must process the malicious filename or artifact definition, so an analyst must run the collector in a way that reaches the vulnerable command handling.
