CVE-2026-43081: net: ipa: fix GENERIC_CMD register field masks for IPA v5.0+

Published May 6, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: ipa: fix GENERICCMD register field masks for IPA v5.0+

Fix the field masks to match the hardware layout documented in downstream GSI (GSIV30EEnGSIEEGENERICCMD).

Notably this fixes a WARN I was seeing when I tried to send "stop" to the MPSS remoteproc while IPA was up.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is most likely affected?

Systems running the Linux kernel net/ipa component with IPA v5.0 or later are the relevant scope indicated by the fix. The issue concerns GENERIC_CMD register field masks on that hardware generation.

2

What access would an attacker need, and what is the likely impact?

The CVSS vector indicates local access and low privileges are required, with no user interaction. The rated impact is high availability impact, with no confidentiality or integrity impact listed.

3

How can I look for signs of this issue?

One reported symptom is a WARN when sending a "stop" command to the MPSS remoteproc while IPA is active. This symptom was observed by the fix author and may help identify affected behavior.

4

What should be done to remediate it?

Apply an available patch from the listed stable kernel references. The fix corrects the GENERIC_CMD register field masks to match the documented hardware layout.
