CVE-2026-43139: xfrm6: fix uninitialized saddr in xfrm6_get_saddr()
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
xfrm6: fix uninitialized saddr in xfrm6getsaddr()
xfrm6getsaddr() does not check the return value of ipv6devgetsaddr(). When ipv6devgetsaddr() fails to find a suitable source address (returns -EADDRNOTAVAIL), saddr->in6 is left uninitialized, but xfrm6getsaddr() still returns 0 (success).
This causes the caller xfrmtmplresolveone() to use the uninitialized address in xfrmstatefind(), triggering KMSAN warning:

Fix by checking the return value of ipv6devgetsaddr() and propagating the error.

Frequently Asked Questions
Under what condition is the vulnerable path reached?
The issue occurs when ipv6_dev_get_saddr() cannot find a suitable IPv6 source address and returns -EADDRNOTAVAIL. The failure is not propagated, allowing subsequent XFRM processing to use an uninitialized source address.
What does an attacker need to do to trigger the affected processing?
The reported stack trace reaches the flaw through UDP send processing and IPv6 route/XFRM lookup. The supplied severity vector indicates network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges, and no user interaction.
How can administrators identify evidence of this issue?
KMSAN can report an uninitialized-value warning in xfrm_state_find(), with stack frames including xfrm_resolve_and_create_bundle(), xfrm_lookup_with_ifid(), xfrm_lookup_route(), ip_route_output_flow(), and udp_sendmsg(). The warning is associated with a failure to select a suitable IPv6 source address.
