In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipvs: skip ipv6 extension headers for csum checks
Protocol checksum validation fails for IPv6 if there are extension
headers before the protocol header. iph->len already contains its
offset, so use it to fix the problem.
What level of access is required to exploit this issue?
The CVSS vector indicates local access and low privileges are required. No user interaction is required.
2
What is the primary security impact?
The reported impact is on availability, with no confidentiality or integrity impact identified in the CVSS vector.
3
Which traffic handling scenario is affected?
The issue occurs when IPVS validates protocol checksums for IPv6 packets that contain extension headers before the protocol header. Checksum validation can fail because the header offset is not handled correctly.
4
Which software should be assessed?
The affected software list includes the Linux kernel and Microsoft azl3 kernel 6.6.141.1-1. The provided data does not identify general fixed version numbers.
