Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Compensating control

Restrict public access to Adobe Experience Manager instances (author/publish servers and management interfaces) using network controls (firewall rules, VPNs, and ACLs) so only trusted IPs and internal users can reach them.

  2. Compensating control

Deploy or tune a Web Application Firewall (WAF) or proxy to detect and block DOM-based XSS payloads and suspicious script injections targeting AEM endpoints, and create rules to block known malicious request patterns.

  3. Operational

Inform and train users and administrators that exploitation requires visiting a crafted webpage; advise avoiding clicking unknown links and opening untrusted pages while authenticated to AEM.

  4. Operational

Monitor application and web server logs for indications of DOM-based XSS attempts or anomalous script-injection requests, investigate any suspicious activity, and remediate affected sessions or accounts.
