CVE-2026-50543: Xibo: Missing Authorization on POST /displaygroup/criteria/{displayGroupId} Allows Arbitrary Scheduling Criteria Injection to Player Devices
Xibo is an open source digital signage platform with a web content management system and Windows display player software. Prior to 4.4.3, missing authorization on POST /displaygroup/criteria/{displayGroupId} allows an authenticated user to send criteria updates to any display via XMR. These criteria determine schedule changes and can alter playback, for example by causing content scheduled for rainy weather to play when it is not raining. Exploitation requires Schedule Criteria to be in use on the CMS. This issue is fixed in version 4.4.3.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Xibo CMS deployments prior to 4.4.3 are exposed if they use Schedule Criteria. The issue affects authenticated users because the vulnerable endpoint lacks authorization checks for the targeted display group.
What does an attacker need to exploit it?
An attacker needs an authenticated Xibo CMS account and access to the vulnerable POST endpoint. No user interaction is required, but Schedule Criteria must be configured and in use on the CMS.
What could an attacker change?
An attacker can send criteria updates through XMR to displays outside their authorization scope. This can alter schedule-driven playback, such as triggering weather-specific content when its intended condition is not present.
How should this be remediated?
Upgrade Xibo CMS to version 4.4.3, which fixes the authorization issue. The provided information does not identify a workaround for systems that cannot be upgraded immediately.
