CVE-2026-53083: bpf: Fix RCU stall in bpf_fd_array_map_clear()
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Fix RCU stall in bpffdarraymapclear()
Add a missing condresched() in bpffdarraymapclear() loop.
For PROGARRAY maps with many entries this loop calls progarraymappokerun() per entry which can be expensive, and without yielding this can cause RCU stalls under load:

Add a cond_resched() call inside the bpf_fd_array_map_clear() loop to yield while clearing PROG_ARRAY maps and prevent RCU stalls under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
What access would an attacker need to trigger this issue?
The issue is locally exploitable and requires low privileges. No user interaction is required.
What is the expected impact?
The reported impact is availability only: the affected loop can cause RCU stalls under load. The supplied severity vector indicates no confidentiality or integrity impact.
Which workloads are most likely to encounter the problem?
Systems using PROG_ARRAY BPF maps with many entries are most exposed, particularly when clearing the map causes prog_array_map_poke_run() to be called for each entry. The risk increases under load because the loop did not yield execution.
How can I identify whether this is occurring?
Look for RCU stall reports involving bpf_fd_array_map_clear(), prog_array_map_clear_deferred(), __fd_array_map_delete_elem(), or prog_array_map_poke_run() in kernel stack traces.
